What is happening with our local movie theater? 

The Wildhorse Theater was previously managed by Metropolitan Theatres–a corporation based out of Los Angeles, California. Metro made the decision to pull out of our local market, and now all operations are being taken over by a local nonprofit named Undiscovered Earth. 

In addition to new movie releases, Wildhorse Cinema + Arts will now be able to offer a range of services including special events, facility rentals, live entertainment and more! 

Who is Undiscovered Earth?  

Undiscovered Earth (UE) is a local nonprofit based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. UE supports artists in living, working, and thriving in Northwest Colorado by identifying community needs and addressing the gaps between what is offered and what is needed.

Will we still play new movie releases?  

Yes! Wildhorse Cinema + Arts will continue to show as many major film releases as possible. For a view of what is coming soon, check out the Coming Soon section of our website. 

Additionally, we are planning to host classic movies, artistic films, and other movies chosen by our local community. Please join our mailing list to stay up-to-date on what’s coming soon! 

Will gift cards still be accepted? 

Yes! Wildhorse Cinema + Arts will honor all gift cards purchased through Metropolitan Theatres through August 31, 2025.

What kind of special events are being added? 

Wildhorse Cinema + Arts plans to host a variety of new events, including trivia nights, art exhibits, game nights, comedy shows, and more! If there is an event you are interested in seeing in our community, or an event you would like to host, please email us: generalmanager@wildhorsesteamboat.org 

What other changes are coming soon to our theater? 

As part of our transition, the theater has undergone a deep cleaning and receive building renovations including new flooring, painting, and upgrades to our furniture, lighting and artwork. Undiscovered Earth (UE) will be accepting art and furniture donations to help complete our changes. If you are interested in donating, please contact Dagny McKinley: dagny@undiscoveredearth.com  

We are planning to diversify our food and drink options, add new community events including live performances, offer spaces for event rentals and community rehearsal spaces, and much more.
